December 4, World Steel Association announced the winners of its SteelChallenge-19 Regional Championship and HBIS Participants won both Champions of Professional and Student Categories 9 years in a row, representing China Region to go to the upcoming final games.

The Regional Championship of steelChallenge-19 took place online for 24 hours on 26 November 2024. This year’s steelChallenge attracted 2,624 participants, They used online steel university’s steelmaking simulator to produce the best steel at the lowest cost while meeting carbon footprint requirements.

The participants acted as technical managers to utilize steel university’s electric arc furnace and secondary steel making simulators in a combined run. Participants were tasked with producing a grade of steel that met specific technical requirements, achieved the lowest cost per tonne, and adhered to carbon footprint standards.

Wu Xiao, HBIS participant won the North Asia Champion of Professional Category and Lu Hezhong, steel of Tangshan Vocational College of Science of Technology won the North Asia Champion of Student Category.

The Final SteelChampion-19 will be held in April 2025, Sydney Australia and Wu Xiao, Lu Hezhong will represent Chinese steel professionals and Students to compete the world grand Champions, with finalist from other four regions.
